Two ferry companies operate on Helsinki – Stockholm route and they are Tallink Silja and Viking Line. Tallink provides everyday service and Viking Line offers departures on this route every other day. Both operators’ ferries stop at port of Mariehamn, so it is possible to travel with them only to the Åland Islands. A trip to the Åland Islands takes about 7 hours and whole journey lasts for 13 hours, no matter from which direction you travel.
Link between Turku and Stockholm is supported by two ferry operators – Tallink Silja and Viking Line. Tallink operates on this route during summer season. Viking Line offers its service for the whole year. Both operator stop midway at the Åland Islands at the port of Mariehamn or Långnäs, depending on the chosen departure. The whole trip takes about 12 hours, but if you travel to the Åland Islands it takes only about 5 hours.
Tallink Silja offers two routes from Turku to Sweden, depending on the season. In summer ferries sail to Stockholm, but in other seasons the operator calls the port of Kapellskär, which is located about 100 km away from Stockholm. Tallink offers daily departures from both ports of Turku and Kapellskär. Ferries stop midway at the port of Långnäs on the Åland Islands. The crossing time between Turku and Kapellskär is 11,5 hours. The journey to the Åland Islands takes about 5 hours from Finnish or Swedish port.
Naantali – Kapellskär route is part of Finnlines’ offer. Ferry leaves from each port every day, two times a day and it stops in the port of Långnäs on the Åland Islands. Whole journey lasts between 8 and 9 hours and the crossing to Långnäs is only 4 hours.
Hanko – Nynäshamn is Stena Line’s night crossing between Finland and Sweden. With two ferries in operation, Stena Line offers up to 2 departures a day in each direction. The crossing time is approximately 13 hours.
If you wish to avoid driving around Gulf of Bothnia, you should consider a ferry crossing from Vaasa in Finland to Umeå in Sweden. The route is operated by Wasa Line. The operator has one or two departures a day in each direction for the whole week. The crossing takes 5 hours.
